the only way forward is through.

The health disparities that exist amongst Black people can’t be solved through reactionary measures. Shifting outcomes start by dismantling harmful systems and using conversation as a medium to build on solid ground.

Speaking Topics

Racism & Bias in Infertility.

Black women are 2x as likely to suffer from infertility, but least likely to seek help. However, the stats don’t tell the whole story. The why beneath this truth involves an in-depth look at the past and how it influences how Black people are treated in healthcare.

Maternal Mortality.

In the United States, Black women are 3-4 times more likely to experience a pregnancy related death in comparison to white mothers—the widest of all racial disparities in women’s health. Shifting beyond the surface, Dr. Raquel uses historical context to guide conversations committed to evoking change.

Racism in Healthcare.

The mistreatment experienced by the Black community in our healthcare system is deep rooted in racist theories and harmful prejudices. Until we dismantle the systems the keep us bound, we’ll continue to repeat the past. Intentional conversation unearths fear and allows change to manifest through action.
